South Slope
South Slope, also called Southern Burnaby, is a single-family neighborhood southeast of Metrotown that shares its borders with Suncrest in the west. It’s located along the banks of Fraser River and overlooks Marive Drive and even Surrey.
The neighborhood is characterized by plenty of green spaces and amenities, making it a highly desirable area to live in. In fact, it has a range of outdoor spaces to meet the needs of every resident, ranging from gorgeous city parks to golf courses. Two of the most exciting spots in the neighborhood are the Riverway Golf Course & Driving Range and the Riverway Sports Complex, which features a regulation-size lacrosse box, six softball diamonds, and eight natural turf fields.
Meanwhile, one of the most famous city parks in the area is the Byrne Creek Ravine Park, which has numerous secluded walking trails with varying difficulties and lengths. Situated along the river banks is the Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park which features picturesque walking trails along the river. Considering the area’s emphasis on green spaces, it’s no surprise that some of the best plant nurseries are present here. Just a short drive away from the area is the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Center. This museum, which is a blend of Japanese and Canadian cultures, showcases the rich cultural history of the area.
The housing market here includes various home styles, such as townhouses (towards Metrotown), single-family homes, and mansion-size homes with mesmerizing viewers. The northeast corner of the neighborhood along Southport Drive is a residential enclave with south-facing condo towers and townhomes with all essential services and amenities nearby.
And finally, local shops and services, such as a Buy Low Foods Supermarket, along Rumble Street take care of everything that residents here might need.
