Parkcrest
Another neighborhood in North Burnaby is Parkcrest. To its east lies Kensington Avenue, to the north is Hastings Street, and to the south are Skytrain tracks and Lougheed Highway.
Two elementary schools serve the area, and there’s a daycare center for smaller kids. A small strip mall is present along Broadway, with three large shopping malls only a few minutes away. Two bus routes connect the area to Forest Grove, Brentwood Mall, and the Lake City area’s Skytrain stations.
The housing market here contains entirely single-family homes. Considering the real-estate prices here, it seems that Parkcrest is a high-middle-class prestigious neighborhood. Like other neighborhoods in North Burnaby, Parkcrest also has an Italian feel. The homes have Mediterranean-inspired architectural elements, including window shutters and arches with grape vines draped over them. The majority of Italian-owned homes feature backyard gardens and greenhouses for residents to grow their own vegetables.
The area has some parks and recreational centers, with the most famous one being Kensington Park, which also features pitch and putt facilities. There’s an ice area nearby for skating and hockey, while baseball and soccer games are regularly played on the well-lit sports field present nearby.
