Deer Lake Park

Deer Lake Park is located in the centre of Burnaby, BC. It is a large and beautiful suburban park with wetland areas, grassy and forested areas, and a sizable lake. With many scenic views and trails, this park provides an easy escape from city life, without you having to leave the city. It’s especially beautiful in the autumn, when the leaves turn from green into golden yellow, orange, and various shades of red.

There are many great parks in Burnaby. What sets Deer Lake Park apart from the other parks is that it has a lot of ways of connecting with nature and with Burnaby’s culture and history. Located on the park grounds, you can also find the Burnaby Art Gallery, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, and the Burnaby Village Museum. There is also the Hart House Restaurant, well-known by locals for great Sunday brunches, fine dining, and private events, including weddings.

Throughout the wetland part of Deer Lake Park, there are great boardwalks with lots of bench seating. This area is a bird-lover’s paradise. There are also lots of biking and walking trails found throughout the park. Most trails are stroller-friendly and easy on the knees. Dogs are required to be on leashes throughout Deer Lake Park, and the planted gardens are well manicured.

Public transportation makes it very easy to get to Deer Lake Park. There is also a large parking lot for those who prefer to drive. Deer Lake Park makes a great venue for enjoying a family picnic at one of the picnic areas. There is a playground and washrooms available, as well as a boat launch.

Deer Lake is a sizeable enough to offer canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and rowboats for those who wish to rent one. Boogie boards can also be rented. Deer Lake makes for a popular outdoor swimming option within Burnaby BC of Canada.

During the summertime, there is a festival area that comes alive with music concerts. Show information and tickets can be purchased through the Deer Lake Park’s website. The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts also has music concerts and other live shows, and their website lists the upcoming performances for sale there.
